Philosophy for Children is taught across all year levels in Newton International School D Ring. It is an inquiry-based approach to learning where children have the opportunity to think about thinking.
Children have the opportunity to explore ideas and concepts through discussion.   It empowers them to ask questions and work collaboratively to find the answers and solutions. They develop the confidence to take risks, realising that it is ok to speak up without the fear of being wrong. Realising that it is also, at times ok to change their thoughts and opinions.
Through being involved in Philosophy for Children, our students learn how to think before they speak and give reasons for their responses. Become active listeners, consider the views of others and accept where there are differences in views. They learn to yield and negotiate. They learn it is ok to speak up.
At Newton International School D Ring we encourage our children to be Caring, Creative, Collaborative, and Critical Thinkers.
